Welcome
Our parish’s vision is that every person witnesses Christ in their own way, every day. For this to happen, parishioners need support in the formation of their identity as Christians. We believe that Christians today are made not born. And so we have set about putting in place the activities and structures that will assist in promoting and enhancing Christian Identity.
Key to the formation of any human identity are the narratives, celebrations and actions that surround us. At Our Lady of Good Counsel and All Hallows these narratives, celebrations and actions are found within the pillars of LEARNING, WORSHIP and OUTREACH. We believe these are central to growth in the Christian life. We therefore believe that we need to carefully manage the gifts we have, STEWARDSHIP in order to call forth maximum PARTICIPATION of parishioners in parish life. You will find all of our parish life organised around these five pillars.
History
In the 1880s Melbourne was a city that was developing fast and there was a demand for grand public and private buildings as well as a need for schools to educate the children of the city. The Catholic community of Melbourne saw the need to build parish schools to accompany the parishes that were growing at this time.
